Local support for Massachusetts and Rhode Island churches
Who provides church IT support near Boston?
Fairoaks IT provides managed IT, campus networking and cybersecurity for churches and ministries across Greater Boston, MetroWest, Worcester County, the South Shore and Rhode Island from our office in Franklin, MA. We’ve been independent and owner-led since 1991 and won the Soteria Award for Most Trusted MSP in North America.
Do you provide onsite IT support for churches in Rhode Island?
Yes. Our Franklin office is close to the Rhode Island line, so churches in Providence, Pawtucket, Cranston, Warwick and Woonsocket are a short drive away. Most issues are solved remotely in minutes, and when something needs hands on it, like a network closet, Wi-Fi or a check-in kiosk, we send a technician.
Can you support a church with campuses in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island?
Yes. Every campus gets the same network design, Wi-Fi setup, security tools and support team, connected securely so staff can reach shared files, the church management system and phones from anywhere. Each state has its own data rules, and we help you meet both.
Why choose a local IT company for our church?
Because Sunday problems can’t wait for a technician three states away. A local, owner-led provider can get someone onto your campus when remote support isn’t enough, and gives you the same team every time, one that knows your buildings, your livestream setup and your ministry calendar.
Where is Fairoaks IT’s Massachusetts office?
Our Massachusetts office is at 1000 Franklin Village Dr, Suite 303, Franklin, MA 02038, between Boston, Worcester and Providence. It serves churches across Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Give us a call or schedule a discovery call below.
Massachusetts and Rhode Island rules and conditions
Does Massachusetts 201 CMR 17.00 apply to churches?
It can. 201 CMR 17.00 applies to organizations that own or license personal information about Massachusetts residents, like Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers and bank or card numbers, which churches often hold for staff, members and donors. It requires a written information security program and specific safeguards, including encryption on laptops. Your attorney has the final word on how it applies to your church.
What happens if a Massachusetts church has a data breach?
Massachusetts law can require notice to affected residents, the Attorney General’s office and the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation as soon as practicable and without unreasonable delay. Call your IT provider, your insurance carrier and your attorney as soon as you suspect a breach, and follow a response plan written in advance.
What does Rhode Island require if our church holds personal information?
Rhode Island’s Identity Theft Protection Act requires a risk-based information security program with reasonable security procedures, along with sensible retention and secure destruction of records. After a breach, affected residents must be notified within 45 calendar days of confirming it, and the Attorney General must be notified when more than 500 Rhode Islanders are affected. Your attorney can confirm what applies to your church.
When a snowstorm cancels services, how do we keep the congregation connected?
When the parking lot is buried, the livestream becomes your service. Make sure your streaming setup can run from home or with a skeleton crew, test the internet connection and backup power before winter, and keep logins for your streaming and giving platforms protected and accessible to the right people. Put servers and network equipment on battery backup so a storm outage doesn’t take everything down.
How should a church budget for technology?
Plan it like any other part of stewardship. Put computers, Wi-Fi and network equipment on a replacement schedule, set aside a little each year for upgrades, and separate monthly support costs from one-time projects. We review technology with our clients and help them plan ahead, so big purchases fit the budget cycle instead of arriving as emergencies.
