At Fairoaks IT the blame stops here.  This month, May 13th, is National Blame Someone Else Day.  Because, why not? It isn’t your fault your computer is slow!  You don’t like how fast that computer is running?  Don’t blame yourself!  And Microsoft is just going to tell you to upgrade to Windows 10... Just like every other day of the year for the past six months.  With computers, it is easy to blame someone else.  You don’t know every little bit of the hardware, software, operating system, drivers, proprietary inputs, or jargon, and that’s what Fairoaks IT is here for.

It’s pretty easy to get lost in the sea of annoying issues a computer can have.  The easiest fix for many issues is to restart the program or device – you know, the Bill Gates 5-minute coffee break – the Reboot.

Other times, it takes more effort.  Sometimes the best option is to refresh the machine to factory settings - completely wipe it clean and start from scratch.  This will alleviate an even higher percentage of your issues.  Don’t forget to backup your data and important settings first (better yet, let Fairoaks do the heavy lifting so you don’t lose anything)!

The third and final suggestion is to make sure your computer is up to the task.  Don’t buy a computer solely because of its low price.  You’ll pay the price many times over in slowness, frustration and lost productivity (we call it “death-by-a-thousand-cuts”).  If you’re looking for recommendations on the best products and software give us a call, we know what’s best for your business.  When you need to get work done, you need your computer to handle all the things you need it to do.  Just as you don’t bring a 4-cylinder Honda Civic to drag race, don’t buy a computer that’s less powerful than the work you need it to do.  And, as always, just like a drag racer, your PC’s need regular maintenance to keep them working and performing well.

Another good adage: You get what you paid for.
