Tis the season – for vacation!!
As summer draws near, we know many of you are getting ready to take some much needed time off to relax and refresh. This is why we thought it would be great to give you a refresher on how to turn on one of the most important things before you leave the office for the week – your vacation responder/out of office message!
Many of our users use one of two platforms – Office 365 or Google Apps. We’ll go through the steps for each so that you can make sure you are letting whoever emails you know that you aren’t there, you’re on vacation, and of course if you have any issues setting it up don’t hesitate to pick up the phone and call Fairoaks IT – 774-222-5500!
Office 365
If you’re an Office 365 user, you are in luck! Your out of office message is very easy to get set up. If you use Outlook as your primary mail client, click the File menu in the top left-hand corner, and you will see a menu with the option for “Automatic Replies (Out of Office)”. Simply configure the reply you want through this menu and you are ready to hit the beach! If you use the web browser, simply sign into your mailbox, and click the gear icon in the upper right corner of your screen. This is the Settings menu and you can see the “Automatic replies” option is listed first.
Google Apps
Many of our Google Apps users are probably saying to themselves right now, “But I use Outlook too. Why isn’t the option for Automaic Replies there for me?” Well, unfortunately Google has a different way of doing things, but it’s just as easy for you t
o set up your away message, so please don’t be discouraged! Google Apps users need to sign into their mailbox on the web in order to set up automatic replies. Once in your mailbox on the web, navigate to the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen (under where your name is to the right), and choose Settings. In the next window that appears, simply scroll to the bottom, and Voila! Your vacation responder is there, ready to be populated with feelings of how happy you are to be out of the office and unable to respond - because you’re on vacation!
